My Brothers' Blogs - Dumb & Dumber

AA

Yep, they've done it again. My brothers have posted really dumb yet purely entertaining blog entries in which they purposely (for some reason) discredit their own image in their respective fields.

At this time, I urge you to click on Ali's and Umar's blogs [see my links on the right hand side] and read their latest entries................ Okay. Done reading? Now read my rather insightful commentary of their entries below:

Ali's Blog:
Dear Dork,

Wow. What an incredibley effective marketing scheme you've designed here. I mean, how will people NOT come to you with IT-related questions in the thousands, if not, millions?!

You have shown the way to true marketing success by boldly telling prospective clients that you WILL, in fact, charge them an arm AND A leg for doing something that they stupidly did and you can easily fix. Ali said it himself, folks: "Your customers think you are a genius for solving their problems, when in reality their issue was pretty easy to fix." You have confirmed what I've always suspected but was too afraid to admit: So, to fix a computer problem, just enter "control-alt-delete" and this will fix all your concerns, right? Watch out, though, my beloved brother. The IT Community may in fact hunt you down for revealing such intimate trade secrets.

Admittedly, though I don't fully understand your marketing rationale, Ali, I do on some level recognize the pure genius of it (which is obviously far beyond me).

Well done. Cheers. Cheers for that.

Umar's Blog:
Dear Nerd,

Wow, man. I mean, what can I say other than me feeling real bad for your patients? I think I should tag along with you the next time you go on an ER round. I'll tell the patients: "Look, in his own words, he doesn't care about you and you shouldn't have him treat you." And I quote:

"...I can safely say I wouldn't be much good as an ER doc..." [Patient thinking to him/herself: Umm, okay. Nice meeting you, too, doc. Or maybe you're the fricken Grim Reaper? "AARRGGHHH!!"]

He thinks that his job is "too raw" and that "People are often in bad shape..." NO WAY! In a hopsital's ER?! You're kidding, right? Seriously? My brother, I ask you what is this world coming to? Why in God's Name are people that are in tip-top shape no longer coming to the ER?

"...it's the nonlinear way things work. You have like 3 or 4 patients with important stuff going on at the same time, and you have to keep track of everything." Oh. My. God. What type of profession actually requires its workers to keep track of things? How can you concern yourself with "important stuff" and track these things when, as a doctor, you have to make sure that the only thing that is not nonlinear is your golf shot? How can you
reasonably expect someone to go out for a 2 hour lunch on a pharma company's budget and come back and remember what they were doing before hand? Is this not the role of the nurse? Where is the nurse in all this? This is an outrage and bordering on crimes against humanity.

"I often feel like getting up in the middle of the madness and saying, 'Oh yeah people, what about me? Anyone want to know how I'm doing?'" Preach that gospel, my brother. Who in the hell do these patients think they are by putting their own needs first? WTF? The ER is an ever-evolving social phenomena, my friends. Don't take advantage of it. Should not patients be just a tad bit more courteous and aware of their doctors' feelings (i.e., Patient: Yeah, doc, I just got shot in the head, but screw me, man. That's the least of your concerns. How the hell are you holding up these days? What can I do for you?) Point taken, Umar. Point taken, indeed.

"To be a great ER doc, you really have to be selfless, patient and nonjudgemental, more so than in other specialties..." Umar, we have to draw the line somewhere and at some point in our lives. And never more has there been a need to do so than now. If we're ever involved in a profession that does not allow you to be selfish, rude, and judgemental, then we know that we have truly lost sight of what's important in life: Me, myself and I. Me and my golf lessons. Me and my trophy wife. Me and my million dollar lakefront home in Lake Forest. We literally cannot afford ourselves to be concerned about such emotional and stupid issues like putting someone else before you.

Thanks, man. You've shown me the way.

Cheers. Cheers for that.
